Not at all! Once you are done or the skip is full, call us to come and remove it.

Yes, most of our bins are able to be opened on the short end to make it easy to walk large items into the bin, such as couches or other large furniture, or push a wheelbarrow in and tip it out. This removes the need to lift large or heavy items over the sides of a high bin. Once your larger items are in the bin, you can then close the door and continue filling up with smaller items that can be lifted over the sides.

It is recommended to give at least 24 hours’ notice before you require delivery of your skip bin. Big Boyz Binz have an efficient and hard-working team of drivers and are constantly updating our equipment so that we can try our hardest to bring you same day skip bins. This is not always possible, due to fluctuating demand but we will do our best to get your skip bin delivered as soon as possible.

The same time frames apply to picking up your bins once you have filled them and you are ready for them to be collected.

Generally our skip bin hire period is up to 7 days. However, we are flexible with extra days if required, and in most cases can extend hire at a small additional cost. Please contact us for further details on shorter or longer hire terms.

The cost of our skip bin hire service can vary greatly depending on what sort of material you are putting into them. It is best to call and discuss your needs with one of our helpful team and we will be able to give you pricing on a bin suited to your specific requirements.

You need to have enough room for our medium skip bin truck to back up to and unload the bin from the back. Call us for exact measurements on each of the trucks to ensure we can safely drop off and pick up your skip bin. Make sure you measure not only the width of any gates, but also check for any overhanging gutters or low powerlines. The best place to put a skip bin is on a driveway or lawn. It is possible to have our bins placed on the road, footpath or council strip if space is limited. These locations will generally require a council permit so it is best to call first and discuss options with Tropical Skips.

The green waste is shredded and turned into mulch and compost.

Concrete and masonry can be crushed and screened into drainage gravel and road base materials, reducing the demand from quarries.

Metals are taken to a scrap metal recycling plant, reducing the need to mine for new metals.

Our smallest and cheapest skip bins are 2 cubic metres and can be used for concrete, soil, greenwaste, building and domestic rubbish. They are great for small clean up jobs where space is limited.

Bins may be filled to the top rail and no higher. As it is illegal to transport overloaded bins, the Tropical Skips drivers cannot accept skips if the waste inside exceeds the bin capacity or is higher than the top rail. See Big Boyz Binz Hire Conditions

We accept most kinds of waste in our Cairns skip bins.

They are graded into several different waste types including ;

Green waste- weeds, trees, leaves, fronds, mulch etc (not building timber)

Concrete- plain and re-inforced concrete, masonry including pavers, bricks and besser blocks, rocks. (No ceramic tiles)

Light General rubbish- general rubbish including household furniture, appliances, mattresses etc.

Heavy waste/building site rubbish – timber, metals, tiles, masonry, plasterboard etc

Clean Fill- soil containing no organic matter or large rocks.

It is important to note that it can be more cost effective to separate your waste into two bins, as opposed to putting it all into one.

For instance, getting a small skip bin for greenwaste and a small skip bin for building waste will be cheaper than putting both kinds of waste into one large skip bin. Mixed grades of waste means it has to be processed at the more expensive rate.

We do not accept gas bottles, asbestos, car tires, batteries, food scraps, liquids, paint, oil or thinners, or any other hazardous materials in our bins. If in doubt, always call us first to see what is and isn’t acceptable.

We may be able to assist you in how to dispose of some of these items, but please refrain from placing them in the skip bins to avoid any extra charges.

Our skip bins come in a range of different shapes and sizes from 2 cubic metres to 9 cubic metres.

As a general rule of thumb, one cubic metre is roughly equivalent in volume to what will fit in a 6×4 trailer.
